Description: A Needs Assessment of LGBTQ+ individuals 55 years + and/or who identified as having a self-defined disability was conducted on behalf of DHS. The goal was to identify challenges LGBTQ+ individuals encounter when using HCBS & barriers to accessing services. The findings produced a wealth of valuable feedback to inform future policies and service delivery, challenging assumptions of what constitutes person-centered services and best care practices.

Learning Objective 1: Explore how transphobia and homophobia directly affect the quality of care by HCBS providers .

Learning Objective 2: Create an action plan at your agency to expand outreach and access to HCBS for individuals who identify as LGBTQ+.

Learning Objective 3: Create an action plan at your agency to provide person-centered services for LGBTQ+ individuals who are currently using HCBS.
